The Pioneers ended their season on a high note, beating Slippery Rock University 42-38 and also giving head coach Brian Collins his 100th victory with the C.W. Post Pioneers.
Senior Erik Anderwkavich, playing in his final game, started off the scoring for Post connecting with Grayson Laurino for a 46-yard pass. The Rock would come right back two minutes later scoring when Akeem Satterfield took a 30-yard rush into the end zone. Satterfield had a big day, rushing for 271 yards and scoring four touchdowns.
After losing two straight games the C.W. Post Pioneer football team rebounded against the Cheyney University with a 63-28 victory.
The Pioneers jumped to a quick lead with consecutive touchdowns from Anthony Brunetti and then added another when Erik Anderwkavich tossed a 21-yard pass to Darnell Williams. The Cheyney Wolves did however get on the board when they rushed for a 9-yard touchdown to make the score 21-6.
Post was in for a challenge, taking on 13th-ranked Bloomsburg University at Hickox Field, for the final home game of the season this past Saturday.
It was a dog fight from the start, the offenses from the Pioneers and the Kutztown Golden Bears driving down the field possession after possession. The Pioneers were right in the middle of the shoot out but couldn’t lock it up at the end even with Erik Anderwkavich setting records.
Kutztown scored early but the Pioneers fought back but the score remained at 10-7, Post got its touchdown when Anderwkavich connected with Darnell Williams for a 5-yard catch.
