Senior Spotlight: Lauren Spagnoletta

During her four years at LIU Post, senior Lauren Spagnoletta has appeared in 55 games for the Pioneer women’s lacrosse team. In her sophomore year, Spagnoletta earned IWLCA All-North Region Second Team and ECC Second Team honors and was ranked third on the team with 48 goals for the season. In the 2011 season, Spagnoletta received IWLCA All-America First Team honors, was named to the All-America First Team by USACollegeLacrosse.com, was put on Synapse Sports All-America Second Team, IWLCA All-North Region First Team, and last, but not least, earned ECC First Team honors. During the 2011 season, Spagnoletta also led the team with 68 goals, including her 100th goal.

What made you choose to come to LIU Post?

It was close to home; I really liked the campus, and Coach Meg was very welcoming.

What do you think the top priority of a college athlete should be?

The top priority should be to be the best that you can be in both athletics and in school.  It’s important to balance out your effort between the two.

If you had to describe your team in three words what would they be?

Fun, hardworking, talented

How has being a student athlete at Post benefitted you?

It has taught me to be proactive and to get things done early. It has also introduced me to some of my best friends.

What is your favorite part about being a student athlete?

Playing and being a part of a team.  It’s fun to be a part of a family on campus.

What is your favorite memory at LIU Post overall?

Probably beating Adelphi my sophomore year.  That was definitely one of the most exciting wins I’ve had here.

Any favorite pro sport teams?

I’m a Giants fan.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to start looking for a job.
